Rigid foam insulation boards are most ordinarily manufactured using high performance polyisocyanurate boards, commonly known as PIR.

PIR is the modern equivalent of rigid polyurethane or PUR boards which do not have the increased fire performance, reduced combustibility nor higher working temperature limits of PIR.

At the lowest end of the scale are expanded polystyrene and extruded polystyrene boards, which are cheaper but offer poorer performance.

Urethane - PUR, Expanded Polystyrene and Extruded Polystyrene rigid foam boards

While PIR may be our most popular sellers, alternative boards exist and are commonly installed. PUR boards have similar performance abilities to PIR Boards, albeit that PUR has lesser fire ratings, while expanded and extruded polystyrene boards have poorer insulation and fire retardant properties.

Thermapitch TP10 is rafter level insulation for tiled or slated pitched warm roof spaces.
Due to greater flexibility and efficiencies in delivery logistics (outside of Scotland) Insulation-Online actively promotes Celotex TB400 / GA4000 / XR4000 over Kingspan TP10. The performance and prices of these boards are identical, however TP10 may only be available in pack quantities.
Thermaroof TR21 are flat roof rigid urethane insulation beneath partially bonded built-up felt and mastic asphalt.
Thermaroof TR22 similar to TR21. However, these boards are used for insulated balconies.
