Ecose® Technology

Knauf Insulation mineral wool products now with with Ecose® Technology benefit from a natural, formaldehyde-free binder made from rapidly renewable organic materials, instead of petroleum-based chemicals, which is up to 70% less energy intensive.

The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with Ecose® Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.

Application

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 is for insulating between the rafters of pitched roofs of both new build and existing buildings. It is easy to cut and friction fit between rafters.

As Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 is unfaced, it is necessary to add a separate vapour control layer on the warm side of the insulation. In accordance with Building Regulation requirements, a 50mm ventilation path must be preserved behind the insulation where the underlay has high thermal resistance, for example traditional roofing felt.

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 can be used either as a single or double layer between rafters, or as the first layer of a two layer system in combination with Gen-X, TLS Silver, YBS SuperQuilt, or similar multi-foil insulation products.

Note:

Other thicknesses other than 100mm are available and upon request, however, a short lead time will be required.

Standards

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 is a non-combustible inorganic glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and is manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.

Durability

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 is odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Environmental

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in its manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment.

Performance

Thermal Performance Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 has a thermal conductivity of 0.032 W/mK.

Fire Performance

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 is classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1.

Acoustic performance

Earthwool® Rafter Roll 32 has excellent sound absorption characteristics.
